50 years ago, a physician who was far ahead of the time, doctor Broda Barnes, discovered that the body temperature indicates the activity of the thyroid gland, especially after waking up.
He published a book on the function of the thyroid, but also created a test which can be done at home and estimate the condition of this gland.
All you need to do is to take a thermometer before going to bed. Shake it, make sure it is less than 35 degrees, and go to bed. In the morning, place the thermometer under the armpit, and hold for 10 minutes.
The result, known as “early morning basal temperature” will reveal the condition of the thyroid, as follows:
1. The thyroid works normally if the temperature is between 36.5 and 36.8.
2. The thyroid works slowly if the temperature is below 36.5. In this case, you may experience the following symptoms: fatigue, hair loss, lack of memory, depression, lack of energy, chronic headaches, infections, concentration issues, etc..
3. The thyroid works in an accelerated manner in case the temperature is higher than 36.8, or there is an infection in the body.
You should repeat the test three successive days, to get accurate results. In case the test shows that there is a reduced or accelerated activity of the thyroid, you should visit your doctor to check the condition, get the diagnosis and discuss the possible treatments.
Furthermore, the temperature may vary due to infection in women who are menstruating, so it would be best to do the test when you are healthy and your cycle is over.
Moreover, make sure you follow some recommendations to prevent thyroid gland issues, like stress management, good liver, and intake of magnesium, vitamin b and A, selenium, and cortisol.
