All human beings need sleep as well as we need food, water and shelter. Sleep is a necessary thing. Everybody knows that.
Sleep is vital in maintaining our health and well being, mentally and physically. We all know that getting a good night sleep is important after a very long strenuous day of work and activities.
The average person needs to sleep for about eight hours a day. Did you know that we spend up to one-third of our lives asleep.
People have various ways in which they prefer to sleep. Some these positions are sleeping on the right or left side, on your back or curled up in a fetal position.
Each positions has different effects it may either be good or bad. For instance, sleeping on the back can be dangerous for people who have asthma and/or sleep apnea. It may lead you to snoring, difficulty in breathing and an overall bad night’s sleep.
While, sleeping on the right side can aggravate digestive problems and end up making them a lot worse. These negative effects and issues lead to lower quality sleep.
Sleeping on the left side is the best sleep position among others when it comes to health benefits. It can help us digest better and easier.
It improves the overall digestive system by allowing the body to extract nutrients and dispose of toxins faster and more efficiently, but it also affects our circulation and cardiovascular health because the heart is allowed to more effectively pump and the blood circulates more efficiently back to the heart.
It is also best advised to people who are suffering with back pain for it keeps the spine straight.
So, from now on you should start sleeping on your left side for it has many benefits that can improve your health.
