Yellow stains are the most common imperfections on a person’s teeth. These stains can be caused by smoking, drinking coffee, or improper brushing and flossing. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to get rid of these yellow stains and discolorations. There are a number of herbs, spices and plants that you can use to make your teeth sparkling white, and here are some of the herbs that you should try:
The bay leaf is one such herb for whitening your teeth, but it needs to be mixed with a citrus fruit. Take one leaf and crush it into very small pieces. Crush a citrus fruit peel (can be an orange or a lemon) into a fine powder. Mix the powder and the leaf together to create a mixture that you can use to brush your teeth. This concoction must be applied up to three times a week.
The guava leaf is also another herb for getting rid of yellow stains and it is also good for preventing bad breath. Simply take a leaf and crush it with a mortar and pestle to make a paste. Rub the crushed leaves on your teeth and brush it with your toothbrush.
Strawberries are fruits that also act as a cleanser for your teeth. Take 2 or 3 strawberries and crush them to make a paste, and then rub the taste on your teeth twice a day for two or three weeks.
Olive + Sesame + Coconut Oil
Amazingly, oil also works as a teeth-whitening cleanser through a process called oil pulling. Oil pulling is taking a spoonful of olive, sesame or coconut oil to the mouth and swish it to your teeth the same way you swish your regular mouthwash. This should be done for 15-20 minutes every time you rise up in the morning.
Turmeric is a great herb for oral whitening. Simply take ½ tablespoon of turmeric root or powder and mix it with a small amount of water to make a paste. Then use the paste to brush your teeth.
Baking Soda + Lemon juice
You can make a paste by mixing tablespoons of baking soda with spoonful of freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Scoop up some of the paste using your toothbrush and apply it on your teeth. Leave it for one minute, then rinse.
Licorice root is used by the Africans to naturally clean and whiten their teeth. Simply chew on a small piece of dried root until you create a small brush. You can use the improvised brush to clean your teeth or you can keep chewing the root.
